
Sterling International Guarantee
Thank you for purchasing a Sterling timepiece. Sterling watches have been made with the utmost care, using the finest of materials. Before leaving the factory, they and subjected to a series of stringent tests to ensure the best quality and accuracy. It is for this reason that we give a one-year guarantee from the date of purchase, on the quality of materials and manufacture.
This is subject to conditions contained in this booklet. All watches must be serviced once a year to maintain in good working order.
The Extent Of The Guarantee
The Battery:
The battery is given freely as part of your watch’s original equipment and will be replaced free of charge, if it becomes defective, within a period of one year from the original date of purchase.
The Leather Strap:
It’s useful life depends on the conditions of use and on the care taken with it. Due to climatic conditions and the natural wear and tear of the material, we cannot guarantee the leather strap.
The Bracelet Strap:
Although great deal of care has been taken in the manufacture of the strap, due to the reaction of chemical substance with the plating of the strap, we cannot guarantee the gold plating or strap against any abuse or chemical reaction with any substance.
Gold Plating:
The warranty is not valid if the watch and/or bracelet is subject to excessive wear, abuse or exposure to any chemical substances that may cause any form of damage.
Titanium Jewellery:
Titanium is one of the hardest metals known but it can, and will, scratch with normal everyday wear. As with all jewellery titanium jewellery must be treated with care.
WATER RESISTANT:
A water-resistant watch that has a specific depth, indicated on the dial or case/back, can be used for various types of water activity, provided that the crown is fully screwed in and the buttons of the watch are not pressed in during the immersion of the watch into water. If these guidelines are not adhered to, the watch is not covered by the guarantee. In watch description, water-resistance followed by a rating (e.g. 50m) refers to a pressure test and does not signify a diving depth.
- “30m” splashproof only – not suitable for swimming
- “50m” is suitable for swimming in light conditions.
- “100m” is suitable for surf swimming or water skiing but not scuba diving.
- “200m” is suitable for scuba diving.
DAMAGE:
Damage to the glass, case, strap, bracelet stem and crown due to any accidental impact, or due to the watch being dropped or exposed to corrosive chemical substance cannot be guaranteed.
Furthermore, damage resulting from poor handling is also not covered.
The movement is covered for a period of one year from the date of purchase against any defaults in manufacture that may cause to the watch to lose time or stop. Damage caused by any external forces due to the incorrect use or tampering of the case-back or seal by any party other than the authorise agents, will make the guarantee null and void.
Instructions For Analog Watches.
How To Use:
If your watch has a day and date or date calendar function, please follow the procedures explained herein: if your watch does not have either day or date calendar function, please see only “Time Setting”.
For models with screw-down crown
- How to unlock the crown
Unscrew the crown by turning it counter clockwise until you no longer feel the threads turning. The crown can be pulled out to first or second click for time/calendar setting.
- How to lock the crown
After all the adjustments are completed, push the crown back to the normal position. Turn the crown clockwise while pressing it lightly until tight.
Am/Pm Selection:
Pull out the crown all the way.
Turn the crown to advance the hour and minute hands clockwise until the hour hand passes the 12 ‘o clock position. If the date changes when the hour passes the 12 o’ clock position, the time shown is A.M. If the date does not change when the hour hand passes the 12’o clock positions the time shown is P.M. Please select A.M or P.M by advancing the hands and then go to “Time setting”.
If you do not need to set the time or calendar, push back the crown to the normal position.
Time Setting:
(The explanation in brackets applies to watches with a second hand).
Pull out the crown all the way (when the second-hand points at the 12 o’ clock position).
Set the time by turning the crown in either direction.
Push back the crown to the normal position (in accordance with a time signal of “00” seconds to the exact time)
Note: In order to set the minute hand of a quarts watch accurately, advance it a few minutes ahead, and then turn it back to the exact time you are settling to.
Date Setting:
Pull out the crown to the first click.
Turn the crown until the desired date appears in the calendar window.
- If your watch does not have a day calendar, push back the crown to the normal position.
Note: Do not set the day and the date between 9:00pm and 4:00am.
Day Setting:
- With the crown in the first click position, turn it in the opposite direction until the desired day appears in the calendar window.
- If your watch has a bilingual day calendar, be sure to choose the desired language.
Note: If your watch has a bilingual day calendar, the language you do not choose will appear temporarily before the chosen language appears when the day shifts automatically to the next day.
Instruction For Chronograph Watches:
A: Operating Chronograph:
PB1 Start/Stop
PB2 Reset
Although 1/20 second hand stops when the measurement time is over thirty seconds, the watch continues measuring the elapsed time. The exact time elapsed is indicated when the measurement is stopped by depressing PB1.
If PB2 is pressed again after the chronograph is reset, 1/20 second hand changes to the small second moving each second.
B: Chronograph Zero Reset:
- Pull crown to second click position (OS60) (Chrono second hands and 1/20 second hand return to the zero position).
- Push PB1 to set chrono second hand to 12:00 (zero) position. Each depression of PB1 advances the chrono second hand one mark or the depression of the PB1 for over 2 seconds advances the chrono second hand continuously.
- Push PB2 to set 1/20 second hand to 12:00 (zero) position. Each depression of PB2 advances the 1/20 second hand continuously.
- Return crown to the normal position. Push PB2 to set the chrono minutes to 12:00(zero) position.
Do not return the crown to the normal position while chrono second hand and 1/20 second hand return to 12:00(zero) position. Each hand stops on the way when the crown is returned to the normal position and these positions are recognised as 12:00 (zero) position.

Instruction For Multi-Dial Watch:
Special Features of your Watch:
An analog quartz watch which is designed with multi hands, for enhanced perfection. The hands in the small displays show Day, Date and 24 hour time.
Setting the date:
Pull the crown out to the first position.
- Turn the crown out to the left to set the date.
You cannot adjust the date between approximately 9:00pm and 0:30am.
- After setting the time/date/day of the week please push the crown back to its normal position before using.
Setting the time/day
- Please make sure you have correctly set am/pm before you start to adjust the time.
Pull the crown to the 2nd position when the second-hand points to 0(12 o’ clock).
After setting the time, use a time signal to synchronize the watch by pushing the crown to the normal position to start the second hand going.
- You cannot quickly adjust the day of the week, In order to adjust the day, you must advance the hour hand by 24 hours per day.
- Always rotate the hour and minute hands in a clockwise direction to set the day. If you rotate the hands in a counter-clockwise direction, it may not always change the day correctly.

WATER RESISTANCE
A common misconception is that the suggested meters indicated on the watch allow for water resistance at those levels.
The table on the following pages recommends preferred usage

To ensure maximum water resistance it is always important to ensure that the crown is in its proper position.
